The senior experience

Taking clean, energetic & authentic portraits with natural poses to help you look your best.

Empowering young adults to feel confident

& at ease as the person God has created them to be.

LLC since 2012

Welcome!

I’m Carrie and I believe this is the beginning of something good!

I believe that senior photography is done best when the student & the parent have a relationship with their photographer and fully trust them. This is how I have guaranteed and delivered incredible photography experiences to my CK Seniors in the past 10+ years! When I arrive to a shoot, I need to feel like an old friend and not like a stranger. This affects every aspect of how your photos will turn out! Keep reading to get to know me and learn more about who I am beyond the camera.

: @CarrieKrupkePhotography

LET’S BE FRIENDS:

This is what you need to know...

I'm a photographer, but I'm also a wife, mom, teacher and someone who truly believes God's given me this job because it allows my creative gift and passion to have purpose!

MY WHY |

IT’S MORE THAN JUST A JOB

WIFE

I couldn’t do what I do without my husband’s love & support! I’m so thankful that he is an equal partner in our home to keep things humming along while I’m out on a shoot & taking care of clients afterwards to give them a great experience. Gerard is my sounding board and Chief Encouragment Officer!

MOM

I love learning something new at each senior session because every student is uniquely created by God with different interests that I get to photograph during our time together. Since becoming a mom, I view my students & seniors as someone’s child and treat them with the same loving care as I would my own children.

EDUCATOR

I have been in the classroom for almost 20 years! My experiences range from middle school band to high school photography & social media. Now, this business has helped my photo classes count as college credit! These experiences with students help me make conversation with anyone and put you at ease from the start.

Gerard is my husband, Mr. Steady, and my calm in any storm.

WE’VE BEEN TOGETHER SINCE 2006. OUR ANNIVERSARY IS 07.07.07.

We have three precious kids here on earth.

ADELAIDE, LOCHLYN, & CHARLOTTE

I love organizing, decluttering and napping

AS A MOM TO 3 YOUNG CHILDREN, A CLEAN HOME IS THE KEY TO A GOOD NAP!

I’m an extroverted introvert!

I CAN RELATE TO A SHY STUDENT & MAKE CONVERSATION WITH ANYONE.

I started making photos for others when I was 22 and haven’t looked back!

THIS TRULY IS SUCH A JOY TO WORK WITH YOU!

FEATURED IN

DEAR SENIOR,

I see you taking those selfies for Snapchat, perfecting the model look and pose you want the world to see. I see you anxiously twirling a lock of hair as you reconsider your wardrobe choices, shoe choice or heck, even hair choice for the day. I know what it’s like to feel so much more confident on a Good Hair Day. I know what it feels like to wonder if you’ve caught the eye of that Special Someone, the elation when you have or the depression when you haven’t. As a teacher, I see the cattiness, the bullying, the texting in class. I know the social media nightmares you face.

But I also see something absolutely incredible in you and you alone. Without pretenses, without being in the spotlight, I know that you have a super power that you will use to shape the world we live in.

Yes, I want to see you belt the high note of your solo, blast past your competition in a race, throw the winning touchdown. But I also know that ultimately, your future successes will dwarf what you’ve already accomplished in your high school career. It feels so crushingly important now for the college scouts, recruiters, and scholarship application readers. But please know, that you are more than how many offers you get, how much you are offered, and what colleges you do (or don’t) get accepted into (or if you choose to bypass college entirely). I want to capture the very best of who YOU are, at this moment in your life, so that you remember the best of your high school experience and, years from now, see the growth from any challenges you faced.

Precious Young Adult, you are important to me; your experience with my camera is paramount. Let’s make some great memories, stellar images and have fun in the process!

Much love,

Carrie

LET’S BE FRIENDS:

Help me get to know you...

Whether it’s through athletics, activities or co-curriculars (or all three!), let’s represent your interests at your shoot. When you book with me, I’ll send you a link to a Questionnaire. This will help you start to envision our time together and know what props to bring!

YOUR WHY |

IT’S MORE THAN JUST GRADES

STUDENT

SO MANY of my parents come to me in the fall of their child’s senior year and are SO THANKFUL they completed their photos in the summer. When you are a full-time student/athlete, it gets really tricky to fully focus on your session and get the best results in the school year. On the questionnaire, please indicate if you’d prefer June or July!

ATHLETE

Punched your ticket to State? Bring the banner, bring the ring, bring the jerseys, cleats, balls, batons, goggles, flippers. . . well, you get the picture. Remember to talk to your coach well in advance of our time together to get the right jerseys/uniforms and access to the stadium, gym or weight room.

BEAUTIFUL

HUMAN

Do you have hobbies or interests that are beyond the classroom or school campus? I have photographed Eagle Scouts, bikers, equestrians, motorcycle riders and geocachers! It doesn’t have to be only school-related activities that we represent photographically. Everything that you love to do makes up who you are!

Carrie was such a pleasure to work with during our son's senior photo session. Despite the fact that our son is very shy, Carrie worked with him easily to capture his true personality. We were amazed with the results and will use Carrie when our next child is a senior.

MY PROMISE

YOU KNOW YOU WANT

GREAT IMAGES ...

But what you may not realize is that you need a great experience with your photographer more than anything! That is exactly what I promise to give you. Over and over and over again, CK Seniors rave about their experience almost more than their images! Why? Because in order to get those natural, genuine portraits that truly capture who you are, you have to feel comfortable with the person taking them. The way you feel while you are having your portraits taken heavily influences how you feel when you see yourself in the final images. I have worked with over 150 CK Seniors over the last 12 years and I can honestly say it is 100% possible to love how you look in your images if you feel comfortable while having them taken!

While a lot of students know me as Mrs. Krupke, there’s a different level of getting to know each other when you’re in front of my camera. I may do some hair fluffs, help adjust a top, but I’ll also bring a changing tent so your privacy during clothing changes remains intact!

Creating clean, authentic, & energetic images,

I am excited to share more about what the

CK Senior experience includes!

THE EXPERIENCE

What is included in your senior experience and why:

I have structured our senior experience very intentionally. Everything I offer and recommend is a strategic part of an overall experience that leads to what my CK Seniors ultimately desire: confident, authentic & energetic images. Our most intentional aspects of the CK Senior Experience include:

2 hours of time

I have found that for a typical senior session, we need approximately 2 hours to capture the full story of your high school experience with a stress-free game plan.

GALLERY OF IMAGES

PRODUCTS

You will receive a gallery of approximately 150 images from which you’ll select your favorites. We then place those favorites in products so you don’t have to wonder what to do with them (or like most parents, never get the images on the wall!).

From prints to albums and wall hangings, Carrie Krupke Photography is the ONLY place you’ll need to go to actually DO something with the digital images in your gallery. My LLC has access to professional print labs that create heirloom quality products that will last a lifetime!

Carrie was such a professional. She made us feel comfortable and walked us through every step of the process. It was an enjoyable experience and our photos turned out amazing! I would recommend Carrie to anyone who is looking to capture memories for a lifetime!

Angie,

Mom to ‘21 + ‘22 seniors

Carrie did a great job with both of my kids grad pics, and then with our family pictures. She took time to capture who our family truly is - she worked really well with each of the kids to get them to relax and just be themselves. It was a joy to work with Carrie!

LAURA

MOM TO ‘24 SENIOR

Carrie has been our family photographer for the past 11 years. So, to have her agree to meet us in Chicago for Victoria's senior pictures was so meaningful! Carrie is like family to us and made the whole experience so much fun. She went above and beyond with planning each and every spot and made sure to set special time aside just for us moms to have to go over every last detail of the day. Not only did we have Victoria's senior pictures, but she also did our family photos. This girl knows how to multitask!!! Carrie caught every bit of Tori's charm and personality. To say I was blown away is an understatement! I am and know I will always be amazed when I see the final product. Thank you, Carrie for being the BEST at what you do and for being willing to take on Chicago with us.

Helpful Hints for Ladies

Bring roughly 5 - 10 outfits on hangers (ironed already, if needed) with shoe options. Ladies, consider bringing heels and accessories for each as well. We probably won’t use all the outfits your bring, but it gives us plenty of options for various backdrops/locations. Loose clothing is generally not flattering for portraits and solid colors are a timeless, classic options. For body shape considerations to flatter a figure:

--Inverted Triangle (if your shoulders are much broader than your waist): avoid ruffles, bright colored tops, sleeveless or spaghetti straps. Consider a bottom layer with more shape like a flared skirt with movement.

--Column/Rectangle (straighter lined body, less curvy): fake your waist with a belt or cinched dress and a non-solid is ok! Consider pleats or fabric with shape or movement.

--Apple (rounder torso): avoid oversized or without-shape tops. Introduce waist with a single button jacket or a belt at the waist to cinch it and avoid a high neckline.

--Pear (wider hips than shoulders): darker, form fitting bottom layer with a brighter top would be great to bring attention to your face. Bare arms or strapless would be fine here too, avoid side pockets or details at your hip/thigh level. Instead, put the bling in a necklace or statement earrings (or we can have fun with some blingy shoes too...)

Please let me know if your senior would be interested in a hair and make-up artist to prep for her session and we can get that coordinated as well!

Helpful Hints for Gentlemen

Bring roughly 5 - 10 outfits on hangers (ironed already, if needed) with shoe options. Ladies, consider bringing heels and accessories for each as well. We probably won’t use all the outfits your bring, but it gives us plenty of options for various backdrops/locations. Loose clothing is generally not flattering for portraits and solid colors are a timeless, classic options. No matter the outfit, opt for a pair of shoes one step dressier than sneakers-unless wearing a jersey.

More detailed examples could include but aren’t limited to:

Jeans + Button-up + Dress Shoes

Jeans + Jacket + Tie(?) + Dress Shoes

Jeans + Jersey + Sneakers - If youa re involved in a sport you’d like to feature, bring both colors of jerseys for home & away matches so we have options pending the location’s backdrops.

Khakis + Button-up + Dress Shoes

Khakis + Collared shirt + Dress Shoes

Khakis + Jacket + Dress Shoes

Khakis + Jersey + Sneakers

Full Suit + Dress Shoes + Black Socks

Props to consider bringing: jerseys, medals, championship rings, helmets, cleats, balls, bats, gloves, instruments, or any other equipment you want to help express who you are at this time in your life!

Yearbook Info

Some yearbook requirements are very specific and others are much more laid back. There are studio spaces available downtown to rent should your Yearbook requirements be on the more stringent side. Let me know what Yearbook’s requests are for your school in our Consultation Call should I need to reserve a space ahead of time. Otherwise, we shoot on location - it’s totally up to your preferences!

Urban/Downtown - distressed brick, architecture, skyline views, bridges, old warehouses, city streets, quaint downtowns (Valley Junction or East Village)

Nature - wildflowers, rivers, tall grasses, driftwood, bike trails, barns, boat docks, lakes

Special Interests - school grounds (with clearance from your coach, usually), stadiums, auditoriums, practice fields, horses, vintage cars/trucks, motorcycles, sports gear, swimming pools

Once we have all your images selected and you know the photo you’d like to have in your yearbook, I am happy to send it in to your school’s Yearbook Advisor/Instructor on your behalf!!

No matter where we go, I can’t wait to have you in front of my camera!

I hope to hear from you soon.

Frequently asked questions:

WHAT IS MY SHOOTING STYLE?

When I describe my work as “clean, authentic. & energetic”, the “clean” part refers to the types of backdrops we find during your session. There won’t be distractions behind you that would detract from you as the main subject! To me, “clean” also reminds me to treat our female students as young ladies. You won’t see suggestive posing that would make our students look older than they are. I incorporate your props and personality to keep these images authentically YOU. And lastly, we move a lot during your session to keep the energy going - lots of laughter, motion and fun!

Pro Tip: If we are highlighting you cheer or dance experience, stretch before our session and come feeling “in shape” even though we’re shooting in the summer months!

DO YOU TRAVEL?

I am more than willing to travel for senior sessions! I actually love it when I’m asked to photograph in a location that means something special to you! We usually schedule senior sessions at least three months in advance and include 30 miles of travel.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I BUDGET FOR THIS?

The typical senior client spends anywhere from $500 - $1500 depending on how may images you purchase in a product. You can pay with cash, check (made out to Carrie Krupke Photography) or Venmo @Carrie-Krupke

Pro Tip: We kindly ask that payment is received in full either prior to, or the day of the shoot.

WHAT TIME OF DAY WILL MY SESSION BE?

Most sessions are scheduled at the end of the day for softer light options. While I try to schedule away from the hottest part of the day, if the weather is still dangerously hot, we will postpone and schedule as close to our original date as possible. If we’re really hot, uncomfortable & sweaty, it won’t be my best work and you won’t have any fun in the process. This shoot is all about YOU and giving you a great experience!

Pro Tip: Parents and/or older siblings are always welcome on athe shoot to help with clothing changes, hair flyaways, make up retouches etc. If Mom &/or Dad come, be prepared to be in a photo or two!

CHRIS

MOM TO ‘24 SENIOR

Carrie is an amazing photographer and very easily puts you at ease as soon as you begin your shoot! If you struggle with nerves, she is going to be able to talk you through every aspect of what your shoot is going to entail from posing to how she is going to capture the best picture for you. She captures everything including the outtakes! I am absolutely in LOVE with our son’s senior pictures and will be recommending Carrie to all of my friends and family for their future photography needs! Thanks for the amazing memories you were able to create for us!!

LYDIA

MOM TO ‘23 SENIOR

Oh my goodness! I knew Clara’s senior pictures were going to be amazing…but, they are out of this world amazing!! Your creativity and talent has absolutely captured my sweet girl’s personality, sweet disposition, and natural beauty in the best way possible! Now, I’m crying. Thank you so, so much.

Thank You!

I’m so glad you contacted me! Enjoy this new season of your high school career! Plan and prepare but always remember that when it’s all said and done, all the classes, the applications and the details will fade away. Once the last song is played and you exit your graduation, you’ll begin your new chapter as as young adult and you’ll have your photos to remember this time.. Congratulations on your senior year and I look forward to hearing from you!

Xoxo, Carrie
